Morning Sickness Cures

How to stop that queasy feeling

When you are pregnant you are looking forward to one of the most miraculous events in your life; the birth of your baby. If you suffer from morning sickness though, the pleasure and anticipation can be overshadowed by the unwelcome feelings of nausea and fatigue.

Morning sickness affects many women during pregnancy, in varying degrees, and at worst results in an inability to go to work, or even get out of bed. Contrary to the name, although some women do find their symptoms are more pronounced upon wakening, morning sickness can occur at any time of the day.

If you need morning sickness cures then the following suggestions may help:

Have a supply of soda crackers near the bed.  Soda crackers help to absorb the excess acid in the stomach that leads to nausea and contributes to vomiting.  Eating a few before rising may help to curb those morning sickness feelings and give you a better, less queasy start to your day.

Ginger is a traditional and natural cure for morning sickness, one which many women have found to be very effective.  Nibble on ginger cookies or candies throughout the day to keep the feelings of nausea at bay.

A cure for morning sickness can be found in Vitamin B-6.  If your    symptoms are more severe, your doctor may prescribe a low dose Vitamin B-6 supplement.  Taken with food, the supplement will help to alleviate the symptoms.

What and when you eat might also be a cure for morning sickness.  Try to avoid foods that are high in fat and salt as these can aggravate queasiness.  They don’t benefit the health of you or your baby so it’s a good idea to pass on them anyway.

Eating smaller meals more frequently can be an effective cure for morning sickness.  When you eat every few hours your body is able to maintain blood sugar levels. If your blood sugar level drops you will be more prone to feeling nauseous.  High protein foods such as lean chicken or peanut butter eaten at meal times can help stabilize blood sugar levels.

Morning sickness for most mothers-to-be is temporary, and with a few slight adjustments to your diet it can be treated.  If the symptoms become very severe and it’s difficult for you to keep any food down then go to your doctor.  There are prescription medications that are safe and designed to treat morning sickness. Talk to your doctor and decide what is best for you and your baby.
